해수욕장
일탈을 꿈꾸는 사람에게 바다만큼 매력적인 대상이 또 어디 있을까
어린 시절 친구들과 함께 찾은 해수욕장은 언제나 동경하던 바다의 모습 그대로였다.
그 때 우린 그 바다를 다 가질 만큼 시간이 충분했다.
바다를 만지고 바다를 생각하고 바다를 느꼈다.
어른이 된 지금은 감히 여름의 해수욕장를 바다라고 부르기를 거부하게 된다.
해수욕장에 간 그들은 바쁘다.
일 년을 꼬박 기다려 얻은 시간이기에 지체할 틈이 없다.
서둘러 날짜잡고 빨리빨리 놀고 부지런히 돌아가야 한다.
그들은 ‘바다’를 제대로 볼 겨를도 없다.
이렇게 바쁜 그들을 담아내는 내 카메라는 고장 난 테이프에서 나오는 노래 가락처럼 느려 터졌다.
6초!
6초 동안에도 그들은 끝없이 움직인다.
미끈한 몸매 자랑도 해야 하고 즐거운 추억 만들어 방학숙제도 해치워야하고 빨리 놀아야 되는데 흩어진 일행을 찾으려니 자꾸만 고개가 돌아간다.
그저 멈춤 것이라고는 주인 없는 신발과 싫증나서 던져 버린 비치볼뿐이다.
그것들만 진짜 휴식을 취하고 있다.

A bathing beach
Is there a more attractive object than sea for those who are dreaming of radical departure from daily life?
As a child, I went to a bathing beach with my friends, and there was a sea that I had been longing for.
At that time, we had enough time to have all of the sea.
But, now I become an adult, and become to reject to call a bathing beach as a sea.
Those who went to a bathing beach are busy.
They don't have time to waste as they waited it out for whole year.
They need to hurry up to fix schedule, to enjoy, and to return home.
They don't have time to see the 'sea'.
My camera, taking pictures of such a busy persons, is as slow as songs coming out of a worn tape.
6 seconds!
People move endlessly during those 6 seconds.
They are busy to boast of their figure, to complete their homework for holidays filled with happy memories, to enjoy quickly. But, they also need to look around to find out their company.
The only things stopped are shoes lost its owner and beach ball that somebody got staled at. Only those things are taking real rest.
The scenery that such busy persons are making in the slow camera is like a dream, in which you see lots of things but cannot remember anything clearly after waked up.
I slowly look into that dream through a small hole in the camera.
